Excellent read!

Excellent read for those who design data center physical security. Chris gives you insights into what needs addressed, reviews challenges, and provides insight into the thought processes that go into a robust design.

As someone who works in the security space, I can say this is one of the most relevant and well rounded books I have seen on data center security and resilience. Christopher Hills clearly understands that protecting a modern data center is about far more than cameras, guards, and access control. It is about securing an entire ecosystem where power, water, network, operations, life safety, physical security, and cyber considerations all intersect.
What makes this book stand out is its credibility. It is obvious that this was written by someone with real field experience, someone who has seen how mission critical environments are designed, built, operated, and protected in the real world. The content is practical, thoughtful, and grounded in the realities of resilience, not just theory.
I especially appreciated the way it connects engineering, operations, and security into one coherent framework. That is exactly how data center security needs to be approached today. The discussion around insider risk, CPTED, integrated systems testing, and infrastructure dependencies adds real value for professionals responsible for protecting these environments.
This is an excellent resource for security leaders, consultants, engineers, operators, and anyone involved in critical infrastructure. If you work in or around data centers, this book deserves a place on your shelf.

Excellent Introduction to the Art and Science of Securing a Data Facility

This is a well-written book that provides practical guidance from someone who has clearly “been there and done that.” The author’s expertise is reinforced with insights from other recognized security practitioners, and the book traces Chris’s path from his early introduction to data center security to his emergence as a leading authority on the subject.

The world surrounding data centers are definitely expanding. As the explosion of AI has reached every area of business operations as well as public domain. Systems surrounding Data Centers including power and compute must be protected. Your book allows us to help pave the way to understand the complexities as well as the converged requirements surrounding IT, OT, and Physical Security. The Data Center eco system will require a joint effort between public and private entities. This will lead to greater cooperation between all the stakeholders including all governments.

A Great Reminder

Across APAC, hyperscale growth is accelerating with cloud and AI demand. While much of the focus is on cyber threats, true resilience comes from integrating both physical and cyber security, backed by strong, strategic security operations.
